Saturday, September 25th, 2010: EL Announces Outstanding Batter Award
The premier batter in the Eastern League in 2010 was New Hampshire first baseman Tim Nichols. For his outstanding play this season, he was selected the EL MVP for posting these award-winning stats:

456 AB, 89 R, 134 H, .294 BA, 21 2B, 1 3B, 34 HR, 103 RBI, 73 BB, .388 OBP.

This weekend the SBWA will host its annual awards dinner, and all of the major winners will be there to receive their trophies for their outstanding achievements this past season.
Friday, September 24th, 2010: Top EL Pitcher Announced
The Eastern League made the official announcement today. The 2010 Eastern League EL Pitcher of the Year went to Josh Tomlin of Akron. He had a superlative season, chalking up a fine 19-6 won-lost mark with an impressive 2.26 ERA. It was quite a performance by the 26-year-old hurler. Tomlin logged 30 starts, 227 IP, 161 HA, 159 K, 54 BB, and .198 OBA.

The SION Baseball Writers Association will honor all of the award winners this weekend at its annual meeting.
Thursday, September 23rd, 2010: EL Honors Outstanding Fielders
"Flashing the leather," "good with the glove," and "good D" are ways to describe baseball players who play good defense. Tonight the most dependable gloves in the Eastern League will be honored at this year's annual SION sports awards banquet. Gold Gloves will be presented to these top-notch defenders:

Catcher: Roberto Sosa (Portland Sea Dogs)
First Baseman: Mario Salinas (Trenton Thunder)
Second Baseman: Dan Schwartzbauer (Altoona Curve)
