Tuesday, October 5th, 2010: SL Announces Best Batter Award
Herb Snyder, the outstanding Iowa left fielder, certainly made an impression on Southern League pitchers this past season. He pummeled them for 192 hits in 567 at-bats, 26 doubles, 8 triples, 11 home runs, 88 RBIs, and scored 84 times. That standout hitting earned him the Southern League SL MVP for 2010.

This weekend Snyder will be honored by the SION Baseball Writers Association at its annual awards dinner.
Monday, October 4th, 2010: #1 Pitcher Trophy Won by Rainiers Teheran
The Southern League announced today that Julio Teheran has been chosen the SL Pitcher of the Year winner for 2010. The Tacoma hurler had everything working for him as he cruised to a outstanding 18-8 record.

Teheran put up an impressive 2.98 ERA in his award-winning season. He started 34 times, worked 214.1 innings, yielded 175 hits, walked 72, fanned 198, and held opposing hitters to a .221 average.

The SION Baseball Writers Association will honor all of the award winners this weekend at its annual meeting.
Sunday, October 3rd, 2010: SL Honors Top Glovemen for 2010
Some baseball teams are built on power. They cherish, revere and live and die with the long ball. Other clubs stress pitching, speed and defense as the priority. The greatest teams have all of these ingredients.

Tonight at the annual sports award banquet hosted by SION, defense will be in the spotlight. The best gloves in the Southern League will be recognized in these defensive stalwarts who will pick up their Gold Glove trophies tonight:
